Get away from the busy lifts and crammed slopes this winter with Indie Snow and tread deep into the virgin snow-covered landscape of the Alps.
Wearing specially designed plastic 'raquettes' which spread your weight out over the snow you are able to explore a silent and majestic world of snow covered forests, high alpine meadows and frozen lakes.
Join us for an off-piste experience with a difference in the unspoiled corners of the Alps- its so easy to learn and its such a pleasure discovering the quieter, wilder side of the mountains in winter that you will be hooked instantly. Its completely accessible to all ages and abilities- we have taken a 3 year old, an 82 year old, people who would never describe themselves as fit and an Ironman and Ironlady!
Snowshoeing is great exercise. Its more aerobic than skiing or snowboarding but it can be tailored to your specific needs as our walks range from the nearly level to the precipitous in steepness and the leisurely to the adventurous in length. Its also more environmentally friendly than other winter sports as it uses fewer resources and makes less use of the major infrastructure which is required for skiing. You can read all about this on our articles page.
Indie Lyndale, former president of the British Association of International Leaders, will take you on a tour of the mountains far from the hustle and bustle of the resort. From a leisurely 2hr stroll to a more demanding day long trek, Indie Snow tailors your winter walking experience to your needs, providing a personalised English speaking service in small groups.
We also lead shorter evening walks under the stars to a mountain restaurant for a traditional savoyarde meal and a glass of mulled wine. Experience the magic of walking through deep snow which glitters as you sweep the beam of your headtorch across the landscape. One of our night walks is around a frozen lake, which looks quite sublime in the moonlight, and the other is up a remote valley to a tiny restaurant reserved exclusively for our use. See the our walks page for more details.
All our walks are fuly guided by an International Mountain Leader with extensive experience of the Alps, Alpine weather, avalanche danger and snowshoeing. You can read all about us, our qualifications and experience on our about us page.

We have a maximum group size of 8 for mixed groups and 12 with an assistant leader for big bookings of family or friends. We meet you the evening before your walk to discuss which would be the best walk and to get to know each other a bit before we start and to fit your snowshoes. We do not have a fixed itinerary each week- instead we arrange walks throughout the week as we receive bookings so that everyone gets to do the walks they want to do and groups are always of a similar fitness level. In order to achieve this we will even take tiny groups of just 1 or 2 people if that means everyone gets the best out of their experience.
